Bellator 258 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Sergio Pettis became Bellator’s new bantamweight champion by earning a unanimous decision victory over Juan Archuleta.
Pettis proved to be the slicker, more technical striker throughout the fight and though he was taken down a few times over the course of five rounds he was able to get back to his feet and pick up where he left off against his more aggressive, but less accurate opponent.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Anthony Johnson rumbled out of retirement and reminded everyone how fearsome his one-punch knockout power is as he caught late replacement Jose Augusto with a thunderous right hand 90 seconds into the second round that ended the fight by KO.
However, Johnson hadn’t had it all his own way in the fight as he was rocked in the first round by a left hand and had to fend off a potential submission attempt, before ultimately coming away with his impressive highlight reel finish.
Earlier in the night, Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire suffered a TKO loss against Peter Queally due to a free-flowing cut he’d suffered late in the second round due to a ground-and-pound elbow that couldn’t be brought under control inbetween rounds.
Meanwhile, Michael ‘Venom’ Page broke Derek Anderson’s nose with a head kick in the first round that would lead to the fight being waved off at the end of that five minute spell.
