A rematch between Beneil Dariush and Carlos Diego Ferreira has been booked for UFC Fight Night 186 on February 6th.
You’d have to go as back as UFC 179 in 2016 to find the first meeting between the pair, which Dariush won by unanimous decision.
In more recent times Dariush has been enjoying a strong run of form over the past couple of years, putting together a five fight winning streak that’s left him on the verge of breaking into the lightweight division’s top 10 rankings.
It’s a run that started with a decision win over Thiago Moises, but since then he’s become a finishing machine, submitting both Drew Dober and Frank Camacho, before moving on to show off his stand-up skills with KO victories against Drakkar Klose and Scott Holtzman.
Given that Dariush himself had suffered a couple of tough KO defeats during a three-fight losing streak back in 2017-2018 it’s been a pleasing reversal of fortunes and he’ll be eager to see that continue in 2021.
However, Ferreira also has a long unbeaten stretch that he’s looking to preserve, having put together six wins in a row that actually stretches back over almost five years now.
It began back in early 2016 with a decision win over Oliver Aubin-Mercier, but he spent the next two years on the sidelines due to USADA drug-test violations.
Since his return he’s been in fine form, defeating a number of fighters, including the likes of Rustam Khabilov, Mairbek Tiasumov and most recently Anthony Pettis.
Dariush vs. Ferreira II joins a UFC Fight Night 186 card that will be headlind by a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov.
