Chad Mendes Fights Manny Gamburyan At UFC 157

The UFC 157 fight card is starting to fill up nicely with the latest addition being a featherweight bout between Chad Mendes and Manny Gamburyan.

Mendes is swiftly getting back into action after dispatching late replacement Yaotzin Meza by KO in less than two minutes at ‘UFC On FX 6’ this past Friday night in Australia.

That was his second win by knockout in a row since losing to Jose Aldo in the same fashion at the beginning of this year and a win over Gamburyan would put him firmly back on the road towards title contention once again.

As for Gamburyan, after a rough three-fight losing streak that also included a KO loss to Aldo back in the WEC, he finally got back on track with a win over Michihiro Omigawa back in August, but this should prove to be a bigger challenge for him.

Meanwhile it’s also been confirmed that Brendan Schaub Vs Lavar Johnson which was originally scheduled to go down at ‘UFC On FX 5’ and TUF winner Michael Chiesa Vs Anton Kuivanen.

It’s not clear at this stage whether any of the fights mentioned in this article are going to make it on to the main card, but either way it looks as if the UFC are building an event with strength in depth to back up the headline fight, the UFC’s first ever woman’s title fight between Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche.
