The latest edition of Dana White’s Contender Series saw all five winners earn a UFC contract last night.
In the main event, Dustin Stoltzfus secured a first round TKO stoppage in somewhat freakish fashion after he tried to slam Joe Pyfer, who tried to break his fall by putting his arm out and ended up dislocating his elbow, which meant he couldn’t continue.
Meanwhile, Adrian Yanez secured his UFC contract swiftly with a 39 second TKO finish over Brady Huang – one of the fastest finishes to date in Contender Series history. Yanez first buckled Huang’s legs with a counter left hook and then as he woozily rose back up another left and right saw them give out on him again and led to the ref waving the fight off.
21-year-old Welsh fighter Cory McKenna won the only female fight of the evening, defeating Vanessa Demopoulos on the scorecards to earn her spot on the UFC roster.
TJ Laramie had a real battle on the mat with Daniel Swain in the first round of their fight, but by the end of it he was on top landing big ground and pound blows and inbetween rounds the bout was waved off due to his opponent having suffered what is believed to be a rib injury.
Finally, Impa Kasanganay secured a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Adams in the opening fight of the night and will now make his official UFC debut in just 10 days time against Maki Pitolo.
