Donald Cerrone Vs Edson Barboza Goes Down At UFC On FOX 11

Fresh off a win at UFC On FOX 10 at the end of last month, Donald Cerrone has now signed up to fight dangerous Brazilian striker Edson Barboza at UFC On FOX 11 which takes place on April 19th in Florida.

Cerrone claimed ‘Knockout Of The Night’ honors in his last fight thanks to a spectacular head kick knockout of Adriano Martins.

The 30 year-old has gone on record as saying he’d like to fight six times in 2014, perhaps fueled by the fact he’s admitted that he’s having financial troubles at this moment in time.

He’d do well to focus on one fight at a time though when it comes to someone like Barboza who put together a 3-0 campaign in the Octagon last year, including also stopping Martins inside the first round with strikes.

That run has left Barboza just outside the official UFC lightweight rankings at No.11, while Cerrone is currently holding down the No.8 spot, so it’s a meaningful fight for the division as well as being a strong candidate for ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors.

UFC On FOX 11 looks to be shaping up nicely with a No.1 contender heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Fabricio Werdum now confirmed to be headlining the show, while Miesha Tate Vs Liz Carmouche also features on the main card.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
