Fabricio Werdum Gets Cameo In Halo 5: Guardians Game

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is a big fan of the hugely successful video game franchise ‘Halo’ and so it was no doubt a dream come true when Microsoft developers offered him the chance to have a cameo appearance in the latest sequel, ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ which comes out in October.

“Fabricio Werdum makes a small cameo appearance in Halo 5: Guardians,” A Microsoft spokesman confirmed at Gamescon. “He’s a big fan of Halo and we’re big fans of his, so it’s always fun when these kinds of things work out. It’s a bit of an Easter egg though, so you’ll have to really be looking for it.”

Werdum’s cameo didn’t come about due to being the heavyweight champion of the world though as it was already arranged before he defeated Cain Velasquez at UFC 188 in Mexico a couple of months ago.

Speaking of which, it was confirmed earlier this week that Werdum will now head into an immediate rematch with the aforementioned Velasquez despite his recent convincing victory over the former champion.

Some fans have voiced their opinion that Werdum shouldn’t have to face Velasquez again at this stage, but the Brazilian has stated that he doesn’t have a problem with the UFC’s decision to give him a rematch.

“I offered him a rematch after the fight because I respect him like I respected Fedor (Emelianenko),” Werdum told MMAfighting.com. “Those are the fighters that I respect the most in the MMA world because they show what they can do inside the cage, not by talking. After that, fans started saying Cain didn’t deserve a rematch because I dominated him, and I got into it as well. But I respect Cain. He was the best in the world one day, and I will give him a rematch, no problem.”

At this stage there’s no time frame or location for the fight, but Werdum says he’ll meet with Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta next week and is going to campaign for it to take place at a stadium venue in his native Brazil.
