Glover Teixeira Defeats Karl Roberson with 1st Round Arm-Triangle Choke At UFC On ESPN+ 1

Glover Teixeira had to survive an early knockdown on his way to a first round submission victory tonight over Karl Roberson at UFC On ESPN+ 1.

Round One:

Front kick to the body from Roberson in the opening minute. Rangey right hand for Teixeira and then into a takedown attempt against the cage.

However, Roberson responds by dropping down elbows as Teixeira works for it and it seems to hurt the Brazilian who sinks to the mat.

Roberson landing more hard elbow strikes. He’s moving into full mount, but Teixeira gets out and back up to his feet hunting a takedown again.

Roberson trying to keep the fight standing, but Teixeira works the takedown and lands it, then is soon able to get to full mount.

Teixeira landing punches to the head and now he works for an arm triangle choke attempt. Roberson defends that and brings Teixeira back into his guard.

Teixeira steps back over to side control with the arm triangle choke again and this time he’s got it in tight and Roberson isn’t getting out, leading to the tap out at 3.21mins of the first round.

Big win for Teixeira after a rough start that almost saw him finished!
