Holly Holm’s next fight will be against Julianna Pena at UFC Fight Night 192 on May 8th.
The 39-year-old Holm picked up two wins in a row during 2020, starting with a unanimous decision victory over Raquel Pennington, followed up by another win on the scorecards against Irene Aldana in October.
Before that Holm had suffered a head kick KO loss to Amanda Nunes in her latest bantamweight title challenge, and despite her recent wins she still has more work to do to get another shot at the belt as she’s ranked No.8 in the division.
Three places above her in the rankings at No.5 is the 31-year-old Pena, who has already picked up her first win of the year back in January when she submitted Sara McMann.
However, in her only fight of 2020, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ was submitted by Germaine de Randamie, leaving her with an overall 6-2 record in the UFC to date.
That might not seem like a lot given that she’s been with the promotion for 8-years now, but Pena did take a year-and-a-half out starting in 2017 in order to give birth to her first child, and overall she’s now gone 2-1 since returning in 2019.
Holm vs. Pena joins a UFC Fight Night 192 card that’s still in it’s fledgling stages, so it’s not clear yet where this fight will feature on the line-up.
