A middleweight fight between Israel Adesanya and Shara Magomedov will reportedly headline UFC Fight Night 295 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 5th.
This event had originally been pencilled in to take place a week earlier, but has now been pushed back to early December. There’s no reason why at this stage, and it’s unclear if it has anything to do with the recent unrest in Riyadh.
For the 37-year-old Adesanya this match-up could mark a final attempt to try to get back to winning ways, having now lost four fights in a row over the past three years.
The former divisional kingpin’s slump began with an upset title loss to Sean Strickland back in 2023.
That proved not to be a one-off as Adesanya was then submitted by Dricus du Plessis in his next fight, while he’s since suffered two TKO losses against Nassourdine Imavov and Joe Pyfer.
Now he’ll be going up against the 32-year-old Magomedov, who has gone 6-1 in the UFC so far.
That includes ‘Bullet’s’ latest back-to-back victories over Marc-Andre Barriault and Michel Pereira, though that’s not been enough to land him a spot on the middleweight rankings ahead of this fight.
