A light-heavyweight title fight between current champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira has reportedly been pushed back a month from UFC 266 on September 25th to UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi on October 30th.
Blachowicz vs. Teixeira is the only fight currently scheduled for UFC 267, and will find the Polish champion seeking his second successful title defense, having initial won the belt with a TKO win against Dominick Reyes and then retained it with a decision victory over Israel Adesanya.
As for Teixeira, despite the fact that he’ll have turned 42-years-old just days before UFC 267, the Brazilian is still making a big impression in the weight class, having now won five fights in a row over the past two-and-a-half years.
It’s a run that began with submission victories against Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba, followed by a split decision victory over Nikita Krylov and then two more finishes inside the distance last year against Anthony Smith and Thiago Smith by TKO and submission respectively.
Meanwhile, despite losing a major title bout, UFC 266 still has a strong headliner as featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and Brian Ortega are scheduled for that event following their stint as team coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, while Curtis Blaydes vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Marlon Moraes vs. Merba Dvalishvili are also on-board.
