Featherweights Jeremy Stephens and Calvin Kattar are set to fight at UFC 248 in Las Vegas on March 7th.
Stephens is currently winless in his last four Octagon outings, starting with a TKO loss to Jose Aldo back in July of 2018.
Since then he’s lost by unanimous decision to Zabit Magomedsharipov and then suffered an eyepoke just 15 seconds into his fight with Yair Rodriguez, before losing their rematch a month later on the scorecards.
Stephens had compiled a trio of wins against Gilbert Melendez, Doo Ho Choi and Josh Emmett prior to that however, and that’s why he’s still holding down the No.8 spot on the 145lb rankings heading into this fight.
As for Kattar, he’s coming off a unanimous decision loss to Zabit Magomedsharipov in November, which brought an end to a two-fight winning streak in which he TKO’d both Chris Fishgold and Ricardo Lamas in the first round.
In total Kattar has 4-2 record in the UFC and is ranked No.11 at featherweight.
Stephens vs. Kattar hasn’t been officially announced yet, but with verbal agreements in place it’s expected to join a UFC 248 card that will be headlined by a strawweight title fight between current champion Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
