Flyweight John Lineker has missed the 126lb maximum weight limit for his fight against Jose Maria Tome at UFC 163 later tomorrow night. Lineker weighed in three pounds over the limit, coming in on the scales at 129lbs.

Lineker, who goes into the bout on a two fight win streak, is believed to have not opted to take an extra two hours to lose the remaining weight, instead choosing to take a 20 per cent fine from his UFC 163 payment.

It may be circumstantial, but the 23-year-old Brazilian lost the last fight in which he missed weight, his UFC debut against Louis Gaudinot.

Even if he beats Tome, it may not guarantee him a shot to be a top contender in the flyweight division. While a win at UFC 163 would be his third straight in the Octagon, it may not be enough to please the UFC brass given that he has now missed weight twice in four UFC fights.
