Khabib Nurmagomedov KO’s Thiago Tavares At UFC On FX 7

Khabib Nurmagomedov looked impressive tonight as he took less than two minutes to knock out Thiago Tavares at UFC On FX 7.

Khabib stayed on the outside in the early stages of the opening round, but despite that it was actually he who was landing the significant shots as he nicely timed some moments to leap in with punches.

After a few successful combinations in this fashion Khabib grew in confidence and was starting to push forward a little more. Then suddenly he leapt forward again and got Tavares flush with a left uppercut which dropped him to the canvas.

Khabib followed him down and started hammering down on him with punches and then vicious elbows and with Tavares all but out and not defending himself the referee jumped in to stop the fight and hand Nurmagomedov a knockout victory with 1.55mins on the clock.

Nurmagomedov is now 3-0 in the UFC’s lightweight division with all of his opponents so far being respected fighters so he looks like he could be a real force at 155lbs.

In all honesty the prelims for this card were a bit dull so thank goodness this opening fight on the main card sparked the event to life, even if it did stun the Brazilian crowd into silence in the process.
