Brian Ortega was escorted out of UFC 248 on Saturday night after he reportedly slapped ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung’s translator Jay Park.
During the walk-outs for the co-main event between Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Ortega is alleged to have went over to where Park, who is also a K-Pop singer, was sitting in the fighter area of the stands and began arguing with him, before landing a slap to his face.
Their beef reportedly stems from an interview on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show in which Park had been translating for Zombie and had stated that Ortega had been ducking the South Korean star.
“Jay Park welcome to the fight game,” Ortega had wrote on social media afterwards. “Don’t be surprised if I slap the (expletive) out of you when I see you.”
It turns out that was no idle threat and it’s left The Korean Zombie, who was reportedly at the bathroom when the assualt took place, absolutely livid and vowing to get revenge.
“Last night, you sat 10 meters away from me and Jay Park,” Zombie wrote on Instagram. “For two hours nothing happened, so I thought everything was fine. But you fucking attacked Jay Park while I went to the bathroom. Jay Park is not a professional fighter but a musician. You slapped a civilian who merely helped translate,” Jung wrote. “Even worse, you were sitting there waiting until I would be absent and attacked Jay Park. It was not a fight like real men would do. What you have done is same as a grown up to beat a child. You should have attacked me. If so, I would have not been upset.
“You are such a coward for slapping a musician not a fighter. If you f—ing planned this to fight me and to use my name because people don’t remember your name anymore, then I congratulate you, it worked. I will fight you and I will knock you out and your f—-ing face will be bloody. Now, your f—ing face stays in my mind and I will f—k you up in the cage. I hope you won’t run away from me again.”
The Korean Zombie’s manager Jason House has since confirmed that a police report was filed afterwards in relation to the incident.
