Tim Means and John Albert Miss Weight For UFC On FOX 8

Both Tim Means and John Albert failed to make weight for their bouts at UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Moraga.

Means, who is set to face Danny Castillo, weighed in at 160lbs, four pounds over the lightweight limit. Albert, who will fight Yaotzin Meza, came in at 137lbs, just one pound over the bantamweight limit.

The two fighters were unable to get down to their respective limites despite being given an additional two hours to do so and that’s resulted in them each having to forfeit 20% of their fight purse.

Jorge Masvidal also initially missed weight for his fight with Michael Chiesa, but he was able to drop the additional 1.5lbs within two hours and so escapes without punishment.

A huge lightweight at 6’2, Means did take the fight on two weeks’ notice after agreeing to step in for Bobby Green, who pulled out due to injury. That means the former King of the Cage lightweight champion should be cut a little bit of slack given that he had such a short time to get a camp together while having to cut weight.

That is a defence Albert does not have, as he was scheduled to fight Meza at this event in early-May. Albert, who is 0-3 in the UFC, now puts himself at a huge risk of being cut from the organisation if he loses against Meza.
