Retired UFC star Miesha Tate has announced on Instagram that’s she’s pregnant with her first child.
The 31-year-old former UFC bantamweight champion retired from the sport at UFC 205 in November of 2016 after an upset loss against Raquel Pennington, and though some fans had hoped that one day she might return to the sport, ‘Cupcake’ had been insisting that she was happy with her decision, and this latest news seems to confirm that as she prepares to settle down and have a family.
Alongside the announcement, the former UFC bantamweight champion also posted a series of pictures which reveal that the father of her child is none other than fellow fighter Johnny Nunez, who is best known to fans as having twice been a contestant on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show.
Tate had previously been in a long-term relationship with fellow UFC fighter Bryan Caraway, but though they never officially announced their seperation, it had been widely known that they were no longer together.
The 32-year-old Nunez first appeared on TUF 22 back in the summer of 2015, but quickly lost in the elimination round by submission against the eventual winner of the season, Ryan Hall.
The lightweight contender was then given another chance later in the season, losing again by unanimous decision against David Teymur.
However, the 6-1 ‘Johnny Boy’, who has fought for World Series Of Fighting in the past, was then handed another lifeline by the UFC when he was drafted in as a replacement for Hector Urbina on the TUF 25: Redemption series earlier this year.
Tate was actually seen with Nunez during the show, although at the time she was just labelled as a teammate, but despite her words of encouragement he would still go on to lose his first fight against James Krause.
