Referee Josh Rosenthal Pleads Guilty To Farming $6 Million Marijuana Crop

Josh Rosenthal is one of the most respected referees in mixed martial arts, but it turns out he’s also been living a ‘Breaking Bad’ style double-life as a multi-million dollar marijuana farmer.

Rosenthal has plead guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to supply after a warehouse he owns with an associate in Oakland, California was found to have a crop of marijuana worth aproximately $6 million.

The veteran referee had originally plead not guilty, but has now opted to change his plea as part of a deal that will see him avoid a potential 10 year prison sentence and $10 million fine.

However, Rosenthal still looks to be facing time behind bars, with his plea deal believed to include 37 months in jail and five years of probation so don’t expect him to be officiating inside the Octagon anytime soon.

Ross launched MMA Insight (previously FightOfTheNight.com) in 2009 as a way to channel his passion for the sport of mixed martial arts.
