Ronda Rousey Named Most Dominant Athlete Alive Today

UFC woman’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been named the ‘Most Dominant Athlete Alive’ by Business Insider.

Rousey tops the list of 50 athletes, both male and female, from all disciplines, including the likes of sprinter Usain Bolt (No.5), soccer’s Cristiano Ronaldo (No.4), Tennis star Serena Williams (No.3) and Basketball’s LeBron James (No.2).

“No athlete is the best in their sport by a wider margin than Rousey. Her two wins in the past year have lasted an average of 15 seconds. The UFC made her its first female fighter ever. In her five UFC fights, only one opponent has made it out of the first round without getting knocked out [or submitted]. She’s not just undefeated; she’s effectively untouched.”

No doubt Rousey’s inclusion at the summit of the top 50 will cause some controversy, but it’s a nice accolade for the 28 year-old superstar nonetheless.

In addition to her UFC career Rousey also appears to have the midas touch regardless of what she turns her hand to.  Prior to her stint in MMA she was a medalist in Olympic judo, she recently had a role as a villain in the ‘Furious 7’ movie which has broken records and already earned more than $1 billion at the box-office, while a brief appearance in the ring at Wrestlemania 31 in March made her an instant star with pro-wrestling fans who are now clamoring for a repeat performance.

Beating up her opposition in the Octagon still remains her No.1 priority though and she’ll look to take her unblemished career record to 12-0 when she faces Bethe Correia at UFC 190 in Brazil on August 1st.
