Ryan Ford Reveals He Fought Jake Shields With A Broken Arm

It’s not uncommon for fighters to step into the cage with injuries of one kind of another, but Ryan Ford really pushed the boat out on Saturday night when he fought Jake Shields in the main event of WSOF 14 with a broken arm.

After his first round submission loss to Shields, Ford posted up a video recorded on October 2nd which hadn’t been seen until now in which he reveals that he had broken his arm during a sparring session two days earlier (September 30th).

He goes on to explain that he still intended to fight because he doesn’t have insurance, so wouldn’t be paid if he pulled out injured, and he needs the money to keep a roof over the head of his wife and two kids.

Ford is showing training with his right arm (which already has a plate in it from a previous break) down by his side, essentially just working his jab. As it turns out, he actually knocked Shields down early in the fight with a jab, but only momentarily.

Since the video emerged WSOF have claimed they had no idea that Ford was injured, but the fact he was able to fight certainly raises questions over the pre-fight medical checks being carried out by the promotion.
