Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier III Set For UFC 252

A heavyweight title trilogy fight between current champion Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will finally go down at UFC 252 on August 15th at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

The two stars first collided at UFC 226 in 2018, with DC emerging victorious via a first round KO to successfully defend his belt. Miocic then claimed revenge a year later at UFC 241 when he TKO’d Cormier in the fourth round to seize the title back.

Since then Cormier has made it clear that he wanted one last fight with Miocic to settle the score before hanging up his gloves for good.

However, Miocic was initially reluctant, and indeed when the coronavirus pandemic hit, he claimed that he wouldn’t return to the sport until after it had passed, stating that he would instead focus on his other job as a fireman / first responder for the time being.

That plan quickly changed though when Dana White warned that he might strip him of the belt if he didn’t compete, and that’s paved the way for the fight to be made before the end of the summer.

So far, Miocic vs. Cormier 3 is the only fight attached to UFC 252, but it alone will ensure that this is another must-see event for the promotion.
