Su Mudaerji edged out a close fight against Alex Perez tonight at UFC Fight Night 286 in Shanghai.
Round One
Body kick from Mudaerji. Reaching right hand gets through for Perez. Inside leg kick for Mudaerji.
Mudaerji gets in to land punches again. Inside leg kick from Mudaerji again. He lands a jab.
Teep kick for Mudaerji. Perez rushes but misses with a flurry. Kick from Mudaerji. Perez gets in close for a moment to land a few quick punches.
Perez misses a punch again. He lands a calf kick. Hard inside leg kick for Mudaerji.
Mudaerji doubles up on that inside kick. Mudaerji misses a kick and then looks for another, but Perez drives in and is able to land a takedown up against the cage. Mudaerji is sitting up though and trying to work a submission, but nothing really doing there.
Perez hasn’t quite fully secured top position here and is wasting time here with his inactivity. Final few seconds and Mudaerji drops down some elbow strikes.
Round Two
Perez still struggling to regularly get inside of Mudaerji’s reach to land his strikes. Low kick for Mudaerji. Perez tries for a kick of his own, but is reaching a bit too much and loses balance.
Mudaerji misses with a side kick, but doesn’t land the outside calf kick. Inside leg kick from Perez. Mudaerji lands his. Perez throws a punch to disguise a takedown and lands it.
Mudaerji trying to stand up and does so facing the cage, but Perez brings him back down. Mudaerji able to stand again, turns into Perez and then escapes.
Inside leg kick for Mudaerji. He lands a punch, but Perez closes the distance and lands another takedown, settling fully into his opponent’s guard this time with two minutes to work.
Not much offense from Perez here as Mudaerji tries to lock him down. Couple of hammer-fists from Perez, but a heavy emphasis on control more than anything else from him.
Round Three
Spinning head kick attempt from Mudaerji comes off the guard. Inside leg kick lands. Now an outside calf kick.
Perez with another punch-into-takedown attempt against the cage, but Mudaerji is trying to fend it off.
Perez gives up on this attempt and returns to striking range. Mudaerji with a front kick to the body and a punch.
Straight left for Mudaerji. Perez back into a takedown attempt against the cage. Mudaerji defending for now and lands a few punches to the thigh and arm of his opponent.
Perez committing to a single-leg, but Mudaerji shows good balance and tries for a guillotine that he quickly abandons.
Mudaerji suddenly drops down looking to grab a leg to manufacture a scramble and emerges around on Perez’s back for a moment before they stand.
Before Mudaerji can get something going on the feet Perez closes the distance and tries for the takedown again. He can’t get it and they separate in the final few seconds. Mudaerji launches into a knee strike that doesn’t land and then tries a couple of flying kicks that Perez steers clear of.
Decision
A close fight then, with Mudaerji getting the better of the striking action, while Perez was able to utilize wrestling and clinch-work as the fight went on. Perez’s focus on stalling tactics rather than offense cost him in the end though as Mudaerji edges out a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).
