The historic UFC 200 event in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 9th is almost upon us, and you can check out arguably the most stacked card ever assembled by the promotion below [Now updated to include all the last minute amendments!]
Less than 48 hours before fight night the headliner for the show has been revamped, with woman’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate’s first title defense against Amanda Nunes now taking the top spot.
The co-main event still features the return of former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE wrestling superstar Brock Lesnar, who will look to prove he still has what it takes to compete after an almost five-year absence against the exceptionally heavy-handed Mark Hunt.
Light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier remains on the card despite his original opponent Jon Jones being pulled due to an anti-doping violation. In a completely unexpected last minute twist, Cormier will now fight Anderson Silva, who steps in on just two days notice to fight the champion in a three-round, non-title fight.
There’s yet another belt on the line at UFC 200 as featherweight top contenders Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar rematch to establish a new interim 145lb champion.
Opening up the main card will be former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who will go to war with Travis Browne to decide who becomes the next No.1 contender in the weight class.
As if that wasn’t enough, the big fights continue right the way through the prelims, which are headlined by a pivotal woman’s bantamweight clash between former title contender Cat Zingano and former TUF winner Julianna Pena.
Prior to that former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks will look to get back to winning ways against another former TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum.
How about another former champion for good measure in the shape of bantamweight star TJ Dillashaw who competes in a No.1 contender bout with the returning Raphael Assuncao on the prelims.
Also making an appearance will be ‘Super’ Sage Northcutt who is hoping to get back on track against TUF: Latin America season 2 runner-up, Enrique Marin.
The amazing undercards continue with Gegard Mousasi being paired up with late replacement Thiago Santos.
Meanwhile, getting the event started with a bang are a selection of season veterans, as Diego Sanchez fights Joe Lauzon in a potential ‘Fight Of The Night’ candidate, and Jim Miller goes up against Takanori Gomi.
That’s a helluva fight card folks!
