The current word from Brazil is that the UFC may be actively planning to move the upcoming UFC 250 event on May 9th in Sao Paulo to home soil in the U.S.
Sao Paulo officials have yet to make a decision on whether the event will be allowed to take place there or not due to the continued coronavirus pandemic, but it seems that the UFC aren’t waiting around to find out and are already putting the wheels in motion to move it.
It is also being reported that the UFC has already reached out to two prominent Brazilian stars on the card, Jose Aldo and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua to attempt to ensure that they can travel to the U.S. in time to remain on the line-up.
However, it is also been reported that other Brazilian fighters on the card have not been approached in the same fashion.
All this seems to tie in with comments from bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen, who earlier this week stated that if Aldo couldn’t make it to the U.S. for his headlining title fight with Henry Cejudo at the event then he would be willing to step up and take his spot instead, even if it was on just a week’s notice.
