When the sport of mixed martial arts started its rise of popularity again in 2005, it was because of The Ultimate Fighter and two light heavyweights: Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Couture is considered a pioneer in the sport and was one of the most popular fighters in the world. He is the oldest man to ever wear a UFC title and while most people – fans and fellow fighters – are still fans of his, the UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is not sure if Captain America was clean throughout his career.
Aldo’s opinion came out in an MMA Fighting article about testosterone replacement therapy. With TRT therapy something that every fighter is either for or against, Aldo made his opinion felt saying that he didn’t have a problem with the process. Aldo went on to say that he felt everyone uses steroids from time-to-time, with the exception of he and his Nova Uniao teammates who were taught otherwise.
The TRT discussion is one that usually brings out emotions towards fighters like Vitor Belfort or Chael Sonnen, but it is the UFC Hall of Famer that Aldo pointed his finger at. Aldo said that the American fighters always took steroids. He questioned Couture and his ability to fight until he was 50 as his reason for thinking the former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion was doping. He said as long as the doctor gave a prescription, it would be okay and even he one day would use TRT if he needs it.
