Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 101 event in Australia the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight of The Night’ honors was the wild main event scrap, which began with Derek Brunson in reckless pursuit of an early finish as he waded in with big punches and repeated takedown attempts.
At one point he had Robert Whittaker in real trouble against the cage, but the former TUF: Smashes winner weathered the storm and then rocked Brunson late in the round, finishing him off with a left hand followed a right head kick and then ground and pound for a TKO Victory.
Robert Whittaker’s stoppage win also earned him a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award, bolstering his bank account by $100,000 overall on the night courtesy of his two post-fight bonuses.
also earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was newcomer Tyson Pedro who was dropped early by Kyle Rountree, but rallied to produce a submission victory via rear-naked choke later in the round.
