Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 18 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
There was no ‘Fight Of The Night’ bonus awarded on this occasion, so four ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards were dished out instead.
Among them was main event winner Anthony Smith, who ended a two-fight losing slump with a first round triangle choke finish against Devin Clark in a bout that had originally been scheduled to serve as the co-main event.
Also securing a performance bonus was Miguel Baeza, who was clearly getting the better of the stand-up action against a hesitant Takashi Sato in the opening round, but then switched things up during the second round, suddenly going for a takedown and the change in strategy quickly paid off when he secured an arm-triangle choke stoppage victory.
In the prelims Su Mudaerji ran through Malcolm Gordon, taking just 44 seconds to KO him with a flurry of punches to ensure he earned one of the performance awards.
Earlier in the night Nate Maness hurt Luke Sanders on the feet in the second round and then finished him on the mat with a rear-naked choke to earn his bonus.
