UFC On FOX 7: TV Ratings (Finals)

The final ratings are in for last weekend’s UFC On FOX 7 event and show that it was watched by an average of 3.7 million viewers.

That’s up from the overnight rating of 3.31 million, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough of a jump to continue the trend of over 4 million viewers established by the previous two ‘UFC On FOX’ cards and leaves it ranked as 5th out of the 7 events on the channel so far.

That’s a little disappointing given that it featured another lightweight title fight in the main event and was a solid card from top to bottom that proved to be one of the most exciting of the year so far.

Still, it’s still considerably better than last Spring when the ‘UFC On FOX 3’ event only pulled in 2.4 million viewers.

The main event between Ben Henderson and Gilbert Melendez was the most watched fight on Saturday night’s card, notching up 4.96 million viewers – a healthy number, though 760,000 viewer shy of the peak audience the last time Henderson headlined a FOX card opposite Nate Diaz back in December.

If you’re looking for a reason why the numbers appear to have dipped then a good place to start would be the fact that this event didn’t take place during the NFL season, as the advertising that the UFC has enjoyed on FOX during the NFL coverage is believed to have been the best way for the promotion to spread the word about their upcoming events.
