The UFC have confirmed plans to return to London, England for ‘UFC On Fuel TV 7’ on February 16th next year at the Wembley Arena.
This will be the first time that the UFC have visited London since UFC 120: Bisping Vs Akiyama in October of 2010.
In days gone by the UK was the UFC’s initial focus for international expansion, but other overseas markets like Brazil have since overshadowed the region resulting in an average of just one event per annum reaching the British Isles in the past three years.
It’s also notable that the size of the shows has also decreased, with this latest offering being the second in a row that’s being billed as a ‘UFC On Fuel TV’ event, whereas in years gone by it was more often than not major numbered events that came here.
So far there’s been no indication of who’ll fight on the February card, but it’s virtually guaranteed to feature some major UK fighters like Dan Hardy and Brad Pickett, with Michael Bisping being an outside bet in my book as he’s more likely to be used in a higher profile event.
