Vitor Petrino was able to outstrike and outgrapple Serghei Spivac over three rounds tonight at UFC Fight Night 285.

Round One

Calf kick for Petrino. He lands it again. Now a third connects. A fourth gets through and then just steers clear of a few punches in return from Spivac.

Jab from Petrino and Spivac already has some blood to the nose. Another jab lands for him. Now a punch from Spivac.

Spivac lands his jab and forces Petrino to back off for a moment. Solid body kick from Petrino.

Another kick to the midsection from Petrino. Now he punches to the body too. Jab to the chest from Spivac.

Calf kick for Petrino. He lands another. Winging punch from Spivac misses and Petrino counters with a body punch.

Body kick for Petrino. Solid low kick from Petrino. Jab for Spivac. Now a nice kick for Spivac that comes off the arm.

Round Two

Punch and a low kick for Petrino. Petrino drives in on a takedown now and doesn’t get it at the first attempt, but keeps working for it and eventually is rewarded for his efforts by putting Spivac on his back.

Solid body shots from Petrino and then upstairs to the head. Petrino pushes Spivac up against the cage. He stands over him and then drops back down with a strike.

Spivac not offering much from his back here. Petrino with a few ground-and-pound strikes. Good elbow and then a few punches.

Petrino passes to full mount easily. Spivac with a weak attempt to get free. He gives up his back and then Petrino makes a mistake enabling Spivac to get on top late in the round. Disappointing round for him overall though.

Round Three

Spivac with a winging punch that misses. Punch and a low kick for Petrino. Spivac trying to land his jab. Low kick for Petrino.

A couple of hooks land for Spivac and that forces Petrino to go for a takedown. He’s able to get Spivac down close to the cage. Spivac on all-fours but he’s a bit labored as he slowly tries to stand.

Spivac weighing heavily on him now and drags him back down when he does very briefly stand midway through the round.

Spivac able to stand again and Petrino opts to back away this time. Calf kick from Petrino. Another lands.

Right hook from Petrino. Back to the calf kick. Now a body punch. Missed punch from Spivac. Petrino circling now in the final minute.

Petrino throws out the jab to maintain distance and lands a calf kick. Spivac stumbles awkwardly for a moment. Superman punch from Petrino.

Decision

Petrino was able to get the better of Spivac on the feet and on the mat for much of the fight and emerges with a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x3).
