WSOF 31 took place during a busy evening of mixed martial arts action on Friday night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Blagoy Ivanov defended his heavyweight title after a five round bloody war with Josh Copeland.
The fight was action-packed from the opening round and with both men throwing heavy leather, Ivanov suffered a nasty cut to the left side of his forehead that would cause him problems for the rest of the bout.
Being covered in blood never deterred Ivanov however, and he gladly traded blows with the also cut up Copeland for the full 25 minutes, to the point of exhaustion.
Ivanov’s hard work paid off in the end as he earned a unanimous decision victory (49-46 x2, 48-47), but Copeland gave a very good account of himself too.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event Jason High was able to claim a big win over Mike Ricci.
High was largely able to outgrapple his opponent in the opening round, but in the second Ricci kept the fight standing and started to turn the screw, landing some good shots and then taking him down. High got back to his feet, but was clearly hurt and found himself on the mat again soon afterwards.
Just when it looked like High was in danger of losing the fight he got up again and cracked Ricci with a left hook that floored him and then followed up with ground and pound to secure a TKO victory with 4.08mins on the clock.
