A middleweight clash between Yoel Romero and Paul Costa has now been rebooked yet again for UFC 241 in Aneheim on August 17th.
This will now be the fourth time the UFC have tried to put this fight together in the past year, and the rivalry between the pair has only grown during that period, with Romero aiming PED accusations at Costa, which infuriated the Brazilian.
Costa did in fact fail a drug test that forced their fight to be cancelled previously, though it wasn’t for performance enhacing drugs, but rather due to having twice used an illegal intreveneous infusion, which resulted in him receiving a six month suspension.
With that suspension now served, the fight will hopefully now take place without any further interruptions, at a time when Romero is coming off a loss to current champion Robert Whittaker by split decision.
That’s now the second time Romero has lost to Whittaker in his past three fights, but that aside ‘The Soldier Of God’ hasn’t lost another fight in eight years and has defeated former champions like Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida, not to mention others like Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and Tim Kennedy.
As for Costa, the 28-year-old remains undefeated in his 12-0 career to date, with every single one of his victories having come inside the distance.
That includes four TKO victories since joining the UFC in 2017, defeating Garreth McLellan, Oluwale Bamgbose, Johnny Hendricks and most recently Uriah Hall.
Romero Vs Costa joins a UFC 241 card that’s expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
