Franklin: “It’ll be the last time you see me inside the cage.”

This week, at an interview in the Philippines, former UFC middleweight champion, Rich Franklin, told reporters that he did not know if he could train for a fight and act as ONE FC’s vice president.

The MMA legend and former math teacher, who is known for his uncanny resemblance to Jim Carrey (hence Franklin’s nickname, “Ace”), said his duties for ONE kept him away from his home and training facilities “for about a month’s worth of time” and that this “was going to repeatedly happen.”

Franklin also said it had been a while since he had been in the cage.  His last fight was in 2012 and featured him on the receiving end of a vicious, first-round knockout at the hands of Vietnamese middleweight, Cung Le.  “Ace” has since focused solely on his duties as ONE FC vice president.

Rich left the door open for another fight, though, but said if it does happen, it would “be the last time you see me inside the cage.”
