Anderson Silva Claims Tainted Supplements May Have Led To Drug Test Failure

Anderson Silva continues to protest his innocence with regards to a drug test administered last year that led to him testing positive for Methyltestosterone and a diuretic.

In a new interview with TMZ, the former UFC middleweight champion points the finger at potential tainted supplements as the reason for his failed test.

“Maybe the supplements I’m using are contaminated,” Silva told TMZ. “I don’t know. I’m just waiting. Because obviously if I take these steroids, I’m stupid. I’m too old. I’m not at the start of my career. I’m [at the] finish.”

Some fans believe that Silva’s legacy has already been tarnished due to his previous drug test failure in 2015, in which case he flagged for the steroids drostanolone and androstane, while his latest issues have only further compounded the problem.

However, ‘The Spider’ argues that fighters nowadays have a hard time staying within the legal boundaries given the nature of supplements and USADA’s constantly shifting PED ban list.

“A lot of people are talking about that,” Silva said. “But it’s difficult. It’s easy for talk for doctors about that. Sometimes the athlete using the different supplements, because the rules are not easy. It changes all the time.”

Silva is currently facing up to a four-year ban from the sport, but he is still hopeful that he can be cleared to fight again, and if so he knows exactly who he would like to face next – a boxing legend.

“I’m just waiting for USADA and my lawyers. And hopefully they came back soon for fight for Roy Jones.

“That’s my dream,” Silva said. “Hopefully, this fight comes.”
