A middleweight rematch between Anthony Hernandez and Brendan Allen has been announced for UFC Fight Night 252 on February 22nd at a destination still to be confirmed at this time.
Hernandez and Allen’s previous encounter came in the LFA promotion back in 2018 when they fought for the vacant 185lb title, with ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez winning on that occasion via unanimous decision.
Hernandez then vacated the belt and headed to the UFC, where he initially experienced mixed results, going 1-2 (+1nc), although the no-contest ruling in his promotional debut was harsh as he’d KO’d Jordan Wright before the result was amended due to testing positive for marijuana.
In recent years the 31-year-old Hernandez has really hit his stride in the Octagon though, winning his last six fights in a row, with five of those coming inside the distance, leaving him ranked No.13.
As for the 28-year-old Allen, he initially stayed on in the LFA promotion for a few more fights, going on to win the 185lb title and defend it before also making the leap to the UFC via the Contender Series.
He’s since gone 12-3 in the promotion, including a recent 7-fight winning streak, which came to an end last time out when he lost out on the scorecards to Nassourdine Imavov, leaving him ranked No.9.
Hernandez vs. Allen 2 joins a UFC Fight Night 252 event that doesn’t have a confirmed main event yet, but will also include Ketlen Vieira vs. Macy Chiasson and Edson Barboza vs. Steve Garcia.
