Anthony Johnson Will Make Comeback At Heavyweight Claims His Manager

Anthony Johnson’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has claimed that the heavy-hitting star will make a comeback, but this time it will be at heavyweight.

“I talked to Rumble last week, and he said if Jon Jones fought (Cormier) as a heavyweight, and if Jon wins, he wants to come back and this is the only fight he thinks he’d come back to fight, Jon Jones,” Abdelaiziz told ESPN.

Jones is currently preparing to rematch Alexander Gustafsson for the vacant 205lb title at UFC 232 in December, while Cormier is expected to defend his heavyweight strap against Brock Lesnar next, so it might take a while before the fight Johnson has in mind could come to fruition.

However, whatever happens it seems that ‘Rumble’, who retired in the Octagon after an April 2017 loss to Daniel Cormier, isn’t interested in going back to fighting at light-heavyweight.

“Anthony Johnson is 285 pounds (right now). He wants to come back as a heavyweight, but I think it has to be something different. He can’t just come back. He misses the sport and says he will come back to fight someone like Jon Jones.

“He’s been in the sport for a long time. He’s resting his body; he’s having fun. He will fight again, for sure, for sure, 100-percent.”
