A middleweight fight between Brendan Allen and Nassourdine Imavov has now been made official for UFC Fight Night 245 in Paris, France on September 28th.
This match-up had previously been rumored for the event, but there appeared to be a spanner in the works when Allen stated he’d only accept the fight if it was the main event. However it seems that was a bluff as the bout is now going ahead.
To be fair to him, the 28-year-old Allen has been building a main event worthy record over the past couple of years, winning no less than seven fights in a row.
That includes wins in the past 12 months over the likes of Andre Muniz, Bruno Silva, Paul Craig and most recently a split-decision victory over Chris Curtis, leaving him ranked No.7 in the 185lb division ahead of his next fight.
The 29-year-old Imavov has gone 5-1 (+1nc) in his last seven bouts, but his level of competition has been higher than Allen’s, with his recent wins coming against Roman Dolidze and Jared Cannonier, while his only loss was to Sean Strickland. As such he’s currently ranked a few places above Allen at No.4.
Allen vs Imavov joins a UFC Fight Night 245 card that is expected to be headlined by a a lightweight fight between Benoit Saint Denis and Renato Moicano.
