Dan Hooker has revealed that he’s targeting UFC 305 in Perth, Australia on August 18th for his next fight, while also claiming that Israel Adesanya and Kai Kara-France will also be on the line-up.
“I want that day. I want it on Perth, so I kind of stood my ground a little bit,” Hooker said in an interview with Combat TV. “They said I’ll be on the card but I’ve just got no idea who I’ll be fighting.”
“I don’t care if they’re ranked, unranked, higher, lower, left, or right. I just want to be [fighting] on that date.”
Hooker then appeared to let the cat out of the bag by suggesting that Adesanya and Kara-France would also be on the Perth card, even though there’s been no word on that from the UFC so far.
“You know, like, Kai [Kara-France] is on it, Izzy [Israel Adesanya] is on it. I just want to have fun with my mates.”
Hooker didn’t appear concerned that he may have been spilling secrets as he doubled down on the claim soon after.
“We’ve stood our ground on Perth. The UFC said, ‘Yeah, we’ll get him on that date.’ And then, whoever. Whoever steps up, whoever steps forward. That’s kind of it now.
“It could be absolutely anyone. Just that date, I’ll fight any man. Then I get to sit back, pop a beer, watch Kai fight, watch Israel fight, and have a good night out with my mates.”
If it proves to be true then this is big news as Adesanya has been out of action since his shock upset middleweight title loss to Sean Strickland in Sydney, Australia last September.
Adesanya had offered to fight Dricus du Plessis in the main event of UFC 300 back in April, but that didn’t materialize. Neither fighter has a fight booked at this stage, so it’ll be interesting to see if that long-awaited showdown does now happen at UFC 305.
