Dana White: I’m Running The Mayweather Vs McGregor Deal

UFC President Dana White has moved quickly to shoot down a story claiming that he is no longer involved in negotiations for the blockbuster Floyd Mayweather Vs Conor McGregor boxing match.

The report first emerged yesterday in an article by the L.A. Times Lance Pugmire, but White says it’s simply not true.

“We live in a world right now where you can’t believe anything you read,” White told TMZ Sports. “When the L.A. Times is putting out – who else would be running the Mayweather-McGregor deal other than me? Who?”

According to Pugmire it was other officials within the UFC’s ownership group WME-IMG who would be conducting negotations with Mayweather’s manager, Al Haymon, but White makes it clear that he’s the only one qualified to be putting together what’s likely to be one of the biggest fights of all-time.

“What does WME know about making big fights?” White asked the reporter.

White then went on to lament the fact that the media are reporting fake news stories about him, including also referencing a Las Vegas Review-Journal article earlier this week that suggested he’d bought up a series of properties recently and then domolished them.

“It’s pretty bad,” White said of the coverage he’s been getting in the newspapers. “I’ve had a couple of bad days back to back with ‘legitimate’ news stories – the ‘Las Vegas Review-Journal’ and now ‘The L.A. Times.’

“Trust me, I’m running the Mayweather-McGregor deal. I’m the only one in on it.”
