Five more fighters earned a UFC contract at last night’s Dana White’s Contender Series 6 Week 8 show in Las Vegas.
That included main event winner Farid Basharat, who was able to use his superior ground skills to dominate Allan Begosso and earn a convincing unanimous decision win (30-27, 30-26 x2).
Ikaram Aliskerov wasted no time in finishing off Mario Sousa after getting him to the mat in the opening round, seizing upon a kimura submission that forced Mario Sousa to quickly tap out before clutching his damaged shoulder in pain.
Trevor Peek had to dig deep to win his fight after Malik Lewis dropped him in the opening round with a punch and then threw everything but the kitchen sink at him in search of a finish. Peek survived though and with Lewis having burned through much of his energy reserves he was then able to gain the upperhand in the second round, taking him down and landing heavy ground and pound. Lewis got back up only to eat a knee to the face and then found himself back down on the mat taking more strikes to force the TKO stoppage win for Peek.
Bruna Brasil completely dominated Marnic Mann in the striking department during their fight, but not content with that she then layered extra icing on the cake with what’s already being declared as the best finish by a female fighter in Contender Series history with a stunning head kick KO late in the second round.
Also earning a contract was Daniel Marcos, who beat Brandon Lewis up with big strikes upstairs and powerful kicks to the leg throughout their 15 minute encounter. Lewis showed his toughness by somehow continuing to fight on despite clearly being compromised by the damage he sustained, but there was no doubt about the winner when the final horn sounded.
