Daniel Pineda got the better of Tucker Lutz by submission in the second round tonight at UFC On ESPN 43.
Round One:
A few leg kicks exchanged and then Pineda goes into the clinch against the cage. There’s some jockeying for position and they separate. Pineda continues to chip away with leg kicks. Lutz with a body punch now. Pineda lands another leg kick and Lutz retaliates with punches.
Pineda goes the length of the Octagon working for a takedown and presses Lutz into the cage. Lutz stays upright and turns into him.
They break apart and Pineda lands a hard counter punch that floors Lutz, but he gets right back up.
Lutz attempts a takedown, but is unsuccessful and Pineda presses him into the cage. Lutz gets away and lands punches. Pineda with a leg kick and overhand behind it. Lutz goes for a body kick.
Round Two:
Lutz firing off with the jab as he pressures early in the second. Now Pineda firing back as he looks for counters.
Leg kick from Lutz. Pineda with a right hook. Lutz tries for a takedown and Pineda defends it against the cage. He thinks about a guillotine, but lets go of it. Lutz tries again for the takedown and Pineda again goes to the guillotine.
Pineda now using the submission to turn Lutz into the cage and lands a big knee to the head that sinks Lutz down to one knee.
Now Pineda is really going for this guillotine choke attempt. He starts to lose position though and has to go to his back with it, then scrambles to stay on top.
Lutz with his back against the cage now and Pineda suddenly goes for the guillotine yet again and rolls backs with it. It’s in tight and Lutz is forced to tap out at 2.50mins of the second round!
