A heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Alexsei Oleinik will headline an upcoming UFC event on August 8th at the APEX facility in Las Vegas.
Lewis comes into the fight with some momentum, having won his last two fights against Blagoy Ivanov and Ilir Latifi, although despite his heavy-handed reputation both of those victories came by way of decision.
That form helped shake off back-to-back defeats, having been submitted by Daniel Cormier in a title fight back in 2018, followed by a TKO loss to Junior dos Santos.
Lewis will now head into his next fight placed at No.4 on the heavyweight rankings, while his opponent Oleinik is several spots below him at No.11.
Despite that, Oleinik is actually also in good form, having submitted Maurice Greene back in January and then gone on to claim a big win over former champion Fabricio Werdum by split decision.
Like Lewis, Oleinik had actually been on a two-fight skid prior to that, with both Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris having stopped him by way of strikes last year.
Lewis vs. Oeleinik headlines an August 8th event that is also expected to feature middleweight action as former titleholder Chris Weidman returns to the division against Omar Akhmedov.
