Derrick Lewis Vs Junior dos Santos In The Works For UFC On ESPN+ Event

A heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Junior dos Santos is believed to be in the works to headline UFC On ESPN+ 4 in Kanasas City on March 9th.

Lewis is coming off an unsuccessful title challenge against Daniel Cormier at UFC 230 in November which he lost by submission in the second round.

Before that Lewis had been in fine form, compiling a three-fight winning streak that included a TKO win over Marcin Tybura, a decision against Francis Ngannou and then a last-gasp knockout versus Alexander Volkov.

As for Dos Santos, the former champion also came up short in his bid to reclaim the title against Stipe Miocic back in May of 2017, losing out by TKO in the opening round.

However, the 34-year-old has rebounded since, taking a unanimous decision victory over Blagoy Ivanov and then following that up with a TKO stoppage win over Tai Tuivasa in December.

All of which leaves Dos Santos placed at No.7 in the heavyweight rankings heading into this fight, five places below the No.2 ranked Lewis.

Lewis Vs dos Santos will front a UFC On ESPN+ 4 card that is still under construction but will also play host to a rescheduled bout between Yana Kunitskaya and Marion Reneau.
