Donald Cerrone Has Given Up On Chasing Conor McGregor Fight

Earlier this year Donald Cerrone seemed determined to line up a fight with Conor McGregor, and indeed the Irish superstar also appeared to be into the idea, but time passed and with the match-up seeming to be nowhere close to becoming a reality, ‘Cowboy’ now appears to have given up hope on it.

“The chase is over,” Cerrone confirmed to MMA Junkie. “It’s done.

McGregor recently indicated that he doesn’t see himself retiring any time soon, but given his vast wealth he’s clearly in no particular rush to return to action and that doesn’t fit in with Cerrone’s plans.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to wait. Let’s go.’

“They were trying to figure out what they were gonna do with Al and I was like, ‘I’ll fight Al.’ Because right now I’d still be waiting on Conor. It sucks but hey, let’s go out and make some money.”

That being said, if by some chance the opportunity to go up against ‘The Notorious’ does arise again then Cerrone is still more than happy to lock horns with him.

“Who knows, man. I’ll take it if it does, of course. If not, I’ll take whoever’s next. I love my job. I love fighting.”
