Fedor’s current form
Prior to Fedor’s last game against Timothy Johnson, Fedor was sharp as he always has been so his latest victory came as a surprise to no one. His last game was at the MMA gala at Saitama Stadium in Japan almost 2 years ago (29th of December 2019) where he went up against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. The bookmakers didn’t know how to predict this one as it could’ve gone either way, but Fedor demolished Jackson in the 1st round after 2 minutes and 40 seconds of play with a knockout. Before that, he was also very impressive with 6 wins and 2 losses in the other 6 games he played. He went up against the likes of Chael Sonnen, Frank Mir, Fabio Maldonado, Jaideep Singh, Pedro Rizzo, and Satoshi Ishii and showed enough class to achieve victories. The only fighters he lost against in his last 10 games were Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader in late January 2019. The last was a heavy defeat for Fedor as Ryan needed only 40 seconds to knock out his opponent. But ever since that fight Fedor made the right corrections to his game and now has 2 consecutive victories the last of which came just a few days ago.
Timothy Johnson vs Fedor Emelianenko
Yes, we are speaking about the fight with Timothy Johnson! And what a fight that was! The Russian fighting icon absolutely demolished his opponent with a very attacking strategy that Johnson was simply not ready for. It was very interesting to see how Fedor was looking the entire game in terms of his physique. His body did not look like the body of a 45-year-old person. He was swift as a cat on the hexagon, his body was as lean as possible and he simply looked 20 years younger than he actually is, but with the added bonus of the mentality of a world-renowned fighter. Despite Tim Johnson’s very aggressive approach to the game Fedor remained calm, tried to unravel his opponents’ strategy, figure out his strengths and weaknesses and wait for the right time to strike. It didn’t take him much time as he quickly started to counter Timothy’s hits, turned the tides of the game, landed some massive hits, and the expected finally happened 1 minute and 44 seconds into the game with a brutal knockout by Emelianenko as he remained undefeated in front of his home crowd.
How many times does he have to prove himself? When will his reign in MMA come to an end? Does he plan to finally retire? All questions which don’t seem to bother The Last Emperor as he is only concentrated on doing what he does best – provide world-class fighting entertainment for the fans and glory for himself and his country.
