Floyd Mayweather Says There’s A 90% Chance He’ll Fight Conor McGregor

At a press conference last night, Floyd Mayweather indicated that he’s ready to push forward with contract negotiations regarding a boxing match with Conor McGregor as he looks to extend his own unbeaten record to 50-0.

“If [McGregor’s] signed a contract… [then] when I get back in the US, I’ll communicate with my team and get Al, Leonard, and Steve on a call [to ask] what’s our next move,” Mayweather told the assembled media in the UK.

“Most likely when we do make a move it’ll be a huge one. You already know, when Floyd Mayweather fights, it’s history. The only thing I’m doing now is chasing my own records.”

Mayweather went on to confirm that McGregor is in pole position to fight him next, and didn’t discount the possibility that he could put pen to paper on a deal sooner reather than later.

“If I do fight, it’s a 90% chance it’s against Conor McGregor,” Mayweather said. “The only fight that makes sense to me is Conor McGregor and it’s possible this fight could be made quickly.

“Conor McGregor is a professional and a stand-up fighter. He kicks-ass in the Octagon while I kick-ass in the boxing ring. At the end of the day, it’s all ass-kicking.”

However, despite his “90% chance” claim, Mayweather would later admit that McGregor is the only fighter that’s likely to have the chance to lock horns with the boxing legend.

“The only fight that makes sense to me is the McGregor fight. I guess I have one more obstacle that I have to get over.

“We have to give the people what they want to see. The fans demand that fight; we have to give them what they want to see to make them happy.”

Of course money is never far from Mayweather’s mind though, and he knows that a fight with McGregor is his best chance to bolster his bank balance and achieve another personal goal.

“I think this year I’ll be back at number one in Forbes’ (richest athletes list), in a matter of time.”
