Francis Ngannou Calls Out Alexander Volkov; Gets Response

Not for the first time, UFC heavyweight star Francis Ngannou has called out Alexander Volkov, and it seems he wants to fight him in relatively short order.

“@AlexDragoVolkov What’s your schedule for January 18th looks like?!” Ngannou enquired on Twitter. “Let me offer you a free trip in the most entertaining city in the world ( @LasVegas ). #UFC246 @ufc#whathappensinvegas.”

UFC 246 is of course the landing spot for Conor McGregor’s headlining clash against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, and Ngannou vs. Volkov would certainly be a worthy addition to that fight card, but it seems the Russian has other ideas about when the two should clash.

“@francis_ngannou How about Paris in March? Or you are too afraid to fall in front of your audience?” Volkov responded.

However, Ngannou then responded, making it clear that he’s not phased by where they fight, as long as they do get a chance to lock horns.

“Paris in March or tomorrow in a phone booth, I will fight you anywhere. Just sign the damn contract this time. Call @danawhite ASAP.”

Ngannou has previously claimed that he’s tried to arrange fights with Volkov in both 2017 and 2018, but that the Russian fighter turned him down on both occasions.

His lastest call out comes at a time when Ngannou is on the verge of title contention again, thanks to a trio of first round victories due to strikes against Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.

As for Volkov, he bounced back from the only loss of his six-fight UFC career to date last month with a decision victory against Greg Hardy, with his other notable wins in the Octagon including the likes of Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and Fabricio Werdum.
