Jhonata Diniz was controlled on the mat in the first round of his fight with Austen Lane tonight at UFC On ESPN 55, but then made his tiring opponent pay on the feet in the second with big strikes, leading to a KO finish.

Round One:

Body kick for Lane. He throws another kick. Leg kick for Diniz.

Punch for Lane then straight into a takedown and lands it. Lane in half-guard here, but Diniz gets him back to full guard.

Punch lands for Lane. Now another right hook for him. A couple of punches from Diniz from his back, but no attempt to get up so far.

Lane back to half-guard now. Diniz onto a hip as he tries to shrimp out, but Lane remains in control on top and looking for a little ground-and-pound.

Lane takes a breather then postures up in half-guard and lands some hammerfists. A few more punches land. Back to control now with less than 30 seconds remaining in the round. Now Lane manages to mount and starts landing punches.

Round Two:

Lane tries for a takedown quickly, but Jiniz stops that one. Jiniz trying to throw heavy hands, but Lane gets into the clinch to stifle him.

Jiniz able to get free from that. Jab for Lane. Now they are in the clinch and Jiniz blasts him with a few punches.

Lane with a sloppy, tired looking takedown and he just tumbles onto the mat. Jiniz doesn’t follow him down and instead chips away at his legs with kicks until he stands back up.

Now they are getting more wild on the feet. Right hand from Lane, but Jiniz wears it and fires back, rocking his opponent with his heavy hands.

Jiniz follows up a straight with a heavy left hook and floors Lane, ending the fight by KO at 2.12mins of the second round.
