Three UFC veterans have signed for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle FC promotion for their next event on May 20th.

All three are well known fighters, though their biggest signing is undoubtedly former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, who hasn’t fought since being released from the UFC in December of 2020.

JDS was a key figure in the upper end of the UFC’s heavyweight ranks for a long time, but his form slumped in the final years of his time there, suffering four TKO losses in a row against Francis Ngannou, Curtis Blaydes, Jairzinho Rozenstruik and finally Ciryl Gane before being cut from the promotion.

Now the 38-year-old will try to bounce back at Eagle FC’s next show where he’ll be taking on another former UFC fighter Yorgan de Castro, who lost three of his four fights in the promotion, but after being released has since picked up back-to-back wins.

Also joining JDS on the Eagle FC roster is another UFC veteran Hector Lombard, who has been out of action for well over three years since his time in the UFC also came to an end following a six-fight losing streak.

At the ripe old age of 44, Lombard is coming out of retirement to fight yet another ex-UFC fighter Thiago Silva, who was kicked out of the promotion in 2013 after allegations of domestic violence by his ex-wife.

Silva had been on a two-fight winning run at the time and after taking some time out resumed his MMA career and has since fought for the likes of WSOF, KSW and ACB, put has only put together a 5-6 record during that time and is coming off back-to-back defeats.

JDS vs. De Castro and Lombard vs. Silva are currently the only two fights officially announced for Eagle FC 48, which will take place in Miami, Florida.
