Kevin Holland Verbally Submits Charlie Ontiveros After Slam At UFC Fight Night 181

Kevin Holland manhandled short-notice replacement Charlie Ontiveros to a first round verbal submission tonight at UFC Fight Night 181.

Round One:

Holland wades forward with a left hand, but then Ontiveros lands a counter and knocks Holland off-balance.

Holland resets. Ontiveros trying an axe kick. Holland works for a takedown and lands it. He gets to north-south position. Now working around to side control as he lands some nasty elbows. Now solid body punches.

Ontiveros working to his feet at the cage, but Holland moves to his back and slams him down to the mat. Ontiveros seems to be hurt and verbally submits moments later, handing Holland a quick victory over the late replacement at 2.39mins of the first round.

Worringly, Ontiveros remains on the canvas even after Holland leaves the Octagon afterwards and needs a stretcher to be taken out, though it’s not clear at this stage exactly what the extent of his injury is.

Update: Ontiveros is believed to have injured his neck according to Holland in his post-fight interview.
