Khamzat Chimaev KO’s Gerald Meerschaert In 17 Seconds At UFC Fight Night 178

Khamzat Chimaev lived up to the hype tonight at UFC Fight Night 178 by taking just 17 seconds to switch off Gerald Meerschaert’s lights.

Round One:

Chimaev with an early body kick. Meerschaert circling the outside of the cage. Chimaev unleashes a single right hand to the jaw and Meerschaert drops like a stone to the mat for a huge knockout victory with only 17 seconds on the clock!

Crazy stuff. There was already a large amount of hype surrounding Chimaev heading into this fight and that stunningly swift KO will only send it skyrocketing.

The fast nature of the finish also appears to justify the UFC’s decision to have already booked another fight for Chimaev against Demian Maia on Fight Island in just a few weeks time prior to this bout.
